Loading up catfish and heading north
The catfish is a quirky Australian native fish and while it is found in the Glenelg River, it is not naturally occurring there.
Where is does naturally occur – in the Murray Darling Basin – population numbers have been decimated with flood induced blackwater events.
So when a carp fishing competition in Casterton in late 2023 provided the opportunity to catch and relocate cat fish from a river in the Victorian southwest to one in it’s northwest, we jumped at the chance!
Shout out to the Casterton Angling Club and its competition anglers for helping make this happen. #legends #fishing #catfish #angling
