Baby fish benefits from Hopkins Habitat

New habitat areas targeting juvenile and foraging fish will create long term benefits for fish species in the Hopkins River.

Eight cove areas have been identified on the Hopkins River to have habitat packs installed in shallow water to support smaller bodied fish.

The $200,000 project is being undertaken by the Glenelg Hopkins CMA with funding from the Victorian Government’s Fish Habitat Improvement Fund, part of the $96m Go Fishing and Boating Plan.

The new project builds on the previously completed fish habitat works the CMA has undertaken over a number of years, which fish surveys have shown to have helped create increased fish populations around the installations.
