Land & sustainable agriculture projects
Southwest Victorian Irrigation Development Guidelines
The Southwest Victorian Irrigation Development Guidelines help make our agricultural region even more sustainable: economically, productively and environmentally. Information is available for agencies and landholders in relation to irrigation development in the southwest.
Future Ready Regions Program
The Future Ready Regions Program provides primary producers throughout Western Victoria with a snapshot of the tools and data readily available to help plan for the adverse conditions experienced from drought.
Flood Recovery
The Glenelg Hopkins CMA has provided support since the recent devastating floods, contributing to the co-ordination of flood recovery activities in the region. Works have included rock chutes, trickle pipe units, rock beaching, concrete structure repairs, pile field, woody revetment, coir log erosion control network, levees, crossing repairs and grassed chutes.
Hopkins Wetlands Restoration Project
This project is part of the Hopkins Works Program and focuses on protection of wetlands in the upper catchment. Funding has assisted landholders to fence their wetlands and allow for managed grazing where required.
Land Capacity Study
A project assessing the land capability of Glenelg Hopkins Catchment with a view to see what agricultural activities will be the most sustainable in a warmer drier climate has now been completed.
